Today, the Swedish clean energy-tech company, Aira, announced its acquisition of Garant Wärmesysteme marking Aira’s expansion outside of the Berlin-Brandenburg region to Saxony and Bavaria in Germany.

This investment demonstrates Aira's commitment to market expansion by integrating local industry leaders to harness critical regional expertise and experience. This strategic move is aligned with Aira’s ambition to serve 5 million households across Europe, whereof 1 million in Germany, with affordable clean energy-tech solutions over the next 10 years.

The well-established, family-owned plumbing, heating, and cooling company Garant Wärmesysteme is an ideal partner for Aira, given its consistent focus on renewable energy solutions, digitised operations and 80 strong team of clean energy experts in Glauchau and Munich. Additionally, Garant has expertise in installing and planning solar systems, adding another dimension to the expanding Aira product portfolio.

Together with Garant, Aira, will enable even more households to invest in the clean energy-tech of the future using Aria’s unique business model.

With Aira’s all-inclusive monthly payment plan, which removes upfront costs and 30 days from order to install, the partnership increases accessibility and affordability of intelligent heat pumps, helping customers reduce their carbon emissions by 75 per cent. This number can increase to 100 per cent when used in conjunction with fossil-free sources of electricity such as solar power.

Today, 70 per cent of private households still heat their homes with oil or gas, which makes residential heating account for 11 per cent of total CO₂ emissions in Germany. Aira’s investment will support the German federal Government’s ambition is to accelerate heat pump adoption with the new recently passed legislation GEG, which aims to make German households climate neutral by 2045. Aira’s commitment to install one million heat pumps in Germany within the next 10 years, helps to reduce Germany’s dependence on foreign gas, reduce CO₂ emissions whilst also cutting consumer energy bills.

This is Aira’s third acquisition since inception and a strong milestone in the continued journey to welcome likeminded and experienced teams to our important mission. Aira is part of Sweden’s Vargas Holding Group of companies that also includes unicorns Polarium, Northvolt and H2 Green Steel.

“Garant's regional expertise and extensive experience will accelerate Aira’s ambitions to serve more German households. In Garant we have found an ideal partner.”

Leonhard von Harrach
CEO of Aira Germany

Leonhard von Harrach, CEO of Aira Germany, continues “We are both convinced that the future lies in sustainable energy solutions, and that the industry needs to rethink its approach. Aira and Garant share the same vision and I am confident that we will flourish by learning from each other. To accelerate the rapid growth of the business, we will build a new Aira Academy that will train hundreds of clean energy experts. What better place to start than here in Glauchau -Zwickau, known as a hub for engineering talent. Aira is now strategically positioned to cater to both the northern and south-eastern regions of Germany.”

Danilo Voigtmann, Managing Director of Garant Wärmesysteme Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, states "consistent growth, employee appreciation, and customer-oriented thinking and acting have always been our primary focus at Garant. These principles fit perfectly with what Aira believes in. We were early adopters right from the start in 2004, recognising the potential of digitalisation and sustainable energy. Our aspiration is always to grow and go with the zeitgeist, and in my opinion there is no more suitable company with which we want to take Garant to the next level, and we have thoroughly considered this decision. The region is already a hub for technical and skilled workers, who will now have the opportunity to specialise in sustainable energy.”

Marcus Steinhart, Mayor of Glauchau, added“companies like Garant Wärmesysteme and Aira offer solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions and actively contribute to the global climate crisis mitigation effort. Through their commitment to our region, they are generating new job opportunities and fostering growth in the important and promising sustainable energy sector. Today's meeting with the new management team provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about the company's plans for expansion and the training of more than a hundred new employees. I wholeheartedly welcome Aira's investment in Garant and the dedication to the fight against climate change.”
