The power of Aira Intelligence

Traditional heating systems are wasteful. They run on fixed schedules, heating your home even when you don’t need it. They don’t adapt to changing weather, fluctuating energy tariffs, or how you actually use heat. The result? Higher bills and wasted energy.

That’s where Aira Intelligence comes in. Learning, adapting, and fine-tuning your Aira Heat Pump for maximum efficiency. And when paired with a smart tariff like Cosy Octopus, it can save you up to 22% more on your energy bills.

So, how does Aira Intelligence work?

Your Aira Heat Pump system isn’t just efficient. It’s intelligent.

At its core is Aira Intelligence, our proprietary optimisation system that continuously measures, analyses and adapts to improve performance.

From day one, it learns how your home uses heat, tracking everything from outdoor temperatures to your household’s routines. It fine-tunes your system in real-time to keep you cosy while using as little energy as possible. All while saving you even more on your energy bills.

“Why should a heating system work the same way today as it did yesterday when the weather, energy prices, and daily routines are constantly changing? A heat pump that doesn’t adapt wastes energy and drives up costs. That’s why we created Aira Intelligence. Smart, dynamic heating control that learns and optimises in real time. It continuously analyses data, adjusts performance and maximises efficiency. The result? Lower energy costs, reduced waste, and consistent comfort. All without you having to lift a finger.”

Jeffrey Chen, Chief Data Scientist at Aira

It's AI. But not as you may know it

In a world of ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence, and X’s Grok, AI is often seen as a tool for conversation or content creation. But Aira Intelligence is different. It’s built to optimise energy use.

It blends machine learning, mathematical modelling and thermodynamic simulations to make smart, energy-saving decisions. Think of it as data-driven AI optimisation.

Unlike traditional heating systems that follow fixed schedules, Aira Intelligence stays one step ahead. Using data to predict your home's heating needs and adjusting in real-time to eliminate wasted energy.

Aira Intelligence. Behind the scenes.

Before an Aira Heat Pump even enters your home, we’ve already tested and fine-tuned its performance using simulated heating scenarios. This means your system is set up to run at peak efficiency from day one.

Once installed, Aira Intelligence gets to work, adapting to its new environment and your home’s unique routines.

15 sensors. Over 100 data points per minute.

Aira Intelligence continuously collects and analyses data from:

  • Your home: Indoor temperature, humidity and usage patterns.
  • The outdoors: Weather forecasts and air temperature.
  • The system itself: Flow rates, power consumption and heat pump performance.

It processes all this data in real time, identifying patterns and adjusting your heating using a combination of smart technologies, including:

  • Thermodynamic simulation: Your system simulates the interaction between home heating and weather to understand how your home heats and cools over time and identify the best optimisation strategy. Our in-house simulators allow us to explore how different strategies perform under changing weather conditions. We call these strategies “policies”, and they help us decide how and when your heat pump should run to keep your home cosy, efficient and cost-effective. And we don’t just test one. In the near future, we’ll be running multiple strategies in parallel, learning which one works best for your home. So the longer you live with your Aira Heat Pump, the smarter it gets.
  • Dynamic calibration: Your Aira Heat Pump is always learning. Over time, things like weather patterns or changes inside your home can affect how efficiently your system heats your space. That’s where dynamic calibration comes in. It constantly monitors how your system is performing, and if something looks off – like your rooms not quite reaching the right temperature, or your heat pump working harder than it needs to – Aira Intelligence steps in to fine-tune things. At the heart of this is something called the heat curve. It’s what helps your system translate outdoor temperatures into the right flow temperature inside your pipes. If that curve drifts even slightly, your home might not stay as warm, and your system could be under extra strain. Dynamic calibration keeps the heat curve on track, adjusting automatically so your home stays perfectly cosy. And your heat pump stays in top shape for years to come.
  • Machine learning: Your heat pump gets smarter the longer it runs. That’s because Aira Intelligence uses machine learning to recognise patterns in how your home uses energy.Over time, it learns things like how quickly your home heats up, how it holds onto warmth, and how outside conditions affect your comfort. It uses this knowledge to make smarter decisions about when and how to heat your home. Keeping you cosy while using as little energy as possible. The more it learns, the more efficient your system becomes. That means lower running costs for you, less energy wasted, and a home that just feels right, without you having to lift a finger.

And, if you’re on a smart tariff like Cosy Octopus, Aira Intelligence even factors in electricity prices, shifting energy usage to your home and water when prices are low, and using less energy when they’re high. Helping you save more without compromising comfort.

Clean Energy Tarife Kurve

Aira Intelligence and smart tariffs. The perfect match.

Switching from a gas boiler to an Aira Heat Pump already slashes your energy bills. But when you pair it with a smart tariff? The savings go through the roof.

How do we know? Simple. We’ve seen the proof. For two months, we compared Aira Heat Pump customers on Cosy Octopus with those using a standard variable tariff. The outcome? Customers on the Cosy Octopus tariff saved 22% more on their energy bills. And that’s on top of the savings they were already making with their Aira Heat Pump compared to a gas boiler.

And, because Cosy Octopus is powered by 100% green electricity, customers on the tariff also reduced their home’s heating carbon footprint to zero.

What’s more, Aira Intelligence works seamlessly with a growing list of smart tariffs. So, you can save more, without ever feeling the difference. No matter which tariff you’re on.

That’s smarter, more affordable home heating. That’s the power of Aira Intelligence.
